is my mother tongue.
A command of the English language for professional purposes has been and continues to be essential in my job. Communication between Frankfurt, London and New York is very intense and it’s all in English. Since my studies, I have practised it as a matter of course, both orally and in writing, and I understand the meaning of a phrase even when my counterpart says something, but in reality wants to express something completely different, sometimes even the opposite.
French is my second mother tongue, so to speak. In France, the language and familiarity with the country and its culture are an important door opener. I learnt the grammar at school and everyday speaking during various stays in France. My multilingual studies in Germany and France and my many years of work for the Société Générale did its part. When people in France today think of me as a Belgian from Wallonia, I take it as a compliment.
